Southern Guild is the sole gallery representing locally made collectible design in Africa.
Since 2008, Southern Guild has commissioned South Africa’s leading designers to create their most groundbreaking work, setting new benchmarks of quality and originality for the industry at large. The growing collection of over 400 limited-edition pieces is redefining how South African design is perceived, both locally and globally.
Southern Guild shows regularly at leading international fairs including Design Miami, Design Days Dubai and Collective, resulting in sales to top collectors and respected museums. The gallery has two permanent South African locations – in the Silo District, Cape Town and Rosebank, Johannesburg, presenting a rigorous exhibition programme throughout the year.
Frequently collaborating on curated African shows with prominent international galleries, museums and auction houses, Southern Guild has worked with the New York-based Friedman Benda, R & Company and the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, Christie’s London, Vitra Design Museum in Germany, and the London Design Biennale.
